Peptic Ulcer Disease (PUD) is a condition where painful open sores (ulcers) develop in the lining of the stomach, duodenum, or esophagus due to damage from stomach acid.
It commonly occurs due to infection with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) or long-term use of painkillers such as NSAIDs.
